Hello,

I am facing some problems with the alignment of various objects, when
tranfering a presentation between different computers. Most times the
result of the transfer is that all the aligning has to be done again.

Because of the need to work parallel on one presentation I would be
glad if someone could provide a solution für this problem. By the way,
my suspicion is, that powerpoint does not keep pixel but mm-values,
because the worst misplacements happen when the screen resoultions of
the different computers differ.

Best Regards

Sebastian

Sebastian,

Powerpoint does not keep pixel values for positioning information.

Objects moving about that you describe could be due to various things.

If it's text moving about.....things to think about
- Are the same fonts (that you have used in the presentation) installed on each PC
- Are you using the space bar to space things out (bad move...uses 'tabs' instead)
- Do you have the "autocorrect" feature (?) turned on? Tools > autocorrect > autoformat as you type.... un tick
the last 4 options

If it's graphics moving about....then that beats me.

That's often a matter of objects having been moved manually, and then when
the slides are dumped into a different presentation, the slide layout takes
over again (almost as if it gets reapplied) and things get repositioned. PPT
2002/2003's "keep source formatting" is a huge help in those cases.
