Consistency check on boot

I am running XP Pro with SP2. This problem didn't begin
with SP2, however.

Every time the system boots up it stops and reports that
it needs to check 1 of my drives for consistency. It
never comes up with an error when it checks. I have also
run Western Digital's drive checking utility. The disk
always checks out fine.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? How can I fix it?

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Dave

Do you have an older version of ZoneAlarm installed? If so, upgrading to
a current version will solve the issue. Check on their site. If you
don't have ZA, then please post back.

I uninstalled my old version of ZoneAlarm and then
installed the latest version, but I still have the same
issue.

Is there anything else you can suggest to try? Ihad
thought that maybe if I backup and reformat then restore
the drive that might clear something in XP that is
causing the problem, but I would rather not do something
that drastic if it can be avoided.

What would you recommend?

I would suggest checking on ZA's tech support site to make sure there
isn't something else you needed to do. I don't use ZA on any of my
machines, so I haven't done this. Maybe try uninstalling ZA again
(making sure that if there are special uninstallation instructions you
follow them) and try a different firewall. I like Sygate:
