Hi
I've got a problem with a 56k internal modem in an XP machine. It came with
the machine so is about 5 years old, Fujitsu Siemens. I only use it for
incoming calls for a phone/fax program that has been running for nearly 2
years with no problems. To access the internet I have a WiFi USB dongle so
it is literally only used for receiving faxes, voice messages and sending
the occassional fax.
It makes the phone line busy so that no calls can be made or received. If I
reboot the system it tends to work for a while but then a bit later the
phone will be engaged again. I've done a virus check and ran Spybot but they
show nothing and i've also made sure that in connections it only shows the
WiFi and LAN which is disconnected.
My question is before I go and get a new modem and still have the same
problem, is it likely to be the modem or something else that is causing
this?
Thanks,
Rob
