This is a new one to me and I cannot figure it out.

SOmething was changed on my system, I am assuming it has
to do with security or netowrk access.

When ever I got to a site with a banner ad, I am prompted
to logon onto the locations site. As if it were another
server cnnection. It prompts me for a User name and
password.

The only way is to cancel the prompt, which then does not
show me the ad. "you cannot access this site"

Any idea how to stop this.

I think I know what your problem is.

You either installed Kazaa or some advertisement-blocking
program.

Specifically, I think your host file has been modified to
point several well-known advertisement web sites (example:
double-click ad agency) to 127.0.0.1 (your machine) when
the banner ads attempts to load. Since the banner request
is now looking to your machine for the ad, it does not
find it. It also prompts you to login to the local machine.

It will prompt you with the logon box for each
advertisement that is found on the web page that is also
redirected in your host file.

You will have to remove all these adversitsment
redirections in your hosts file to get rid of this
annoyance.
