I ve been a happy user of kerio personal firewall for some time now.
However, I stopped using it when MS released SP2 (price beeing the main
reason for the switch). So now I use MS firewall .. which seems good
ennough, but doesnt has a feature I ve learned to love: the graphical
connection monitor .. like Kerio.

I wonder, is there a free app that does this??
Even better would be if I could get one that would stop connections just by
clicking on it.

thanks in advance

I've never used Kerio, so I don't know what the graphical connection
monitor is, but I use Sygate Personal Firewall. It's free and has a
nice interface that can range from very simple to fairly intricate
depending on what you need to see.

I would highly reccomend it, especially over ZoneAlarm. The newer
versions of ZoneAlarm seem to be having some pretty major problems

If all you are interested in seeing is the connections from your PC, then
TCP View is for you. You can click on any connection and close it. You
can not set it to block because it is only a viewer.

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/tcpview.shtml

"The Windows Netstat utility shows you a list of all open TCP and UDP
connections, but it's a command-line utility, and can be a bit hard to
deal with when there are numerous connections. Sysinternals created a GUI
version that resolves IP addresses to their respective domain names, even
allowing you to toggle the view of IP address and domain name. You can
set an automated refresh rate and save the list of connections out to a
file with the click of a button."

Netstat Viewer is a handy GUI replacement for the command line application
"netstat".

Netstat Viewer won't close or block ports. It makes a snapshot of the open
connections, which you have to refresh manually.

Cheers,
