TO WHOM EVER:

I HAVE A CONNER EXTERNAL TAPE BACKUP WITH A PARALLEL
PORT. UNDER WINDOWS 98 IT WORKED FINE. IN XP IT DOES
NOT SHOW UP ANYWHERE ON MY SYSTEM. EVEN WHEN I GO TO THE
SYSTEM TOOLS, I DON'T EVEN HAVE A FILE CALLED BACKUP.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?

THANKS,
GEORGE

You have to find drivers for that particular tape drive model on the mfg's
homesite. Unless there is drivers for XP,,I don't think you have any chance
of getting it tot work under XP, as it restricts direct access to the
hardware ports, as most programs that use device like yours would like.

Hi,
I think i could help you...have you got the XP cd???

Here are the methods:
1. insert the XP cd into the cd-rom, the nice blue
window will come out then click "PERFORM ADDITIONAL
TASKS" then click "Browse CD"...
2. click the "VALUEADD" folder :)
3. click the "MSFT" folder (",
4. In here, there are five folders one of them
is "NTBACKUP" click that....
5. In here, this is your last click,
click "NTBACKUP"...this is an icon not a folder...

After these 5 steps, you wait until the set-up has
finished... ok :) When the set-up has finished click on
System tools, from then you can see your back-up
program!!! it's bit different from WIN98 but they work
the same...

e-mail me if it works,
cheers buddy...lloyd (",

This may not help you, but will give you more info.

Most parallel devices (CDs, scanners, Zip etc..) have been "drooped" from
being supported in XP.
