This goes back to my electronics QC days where intermittent noise would
show up on poor connections when running low-voltage plug-ins of various
sorts. I'm wondering if any of the cheaper mobos (<$100) supporting
AMD64 would tend to have better gold contacts and connectors less prone
to cracking. I suspect a company providing good connectors would also be
less likely to skimp on caps.

Not a problem with digital connections.

I doubt anyone has bothered to quantify that.

It isnt normally the connector that cracks, its where its soldered to the motherboard.

Intel is reputed to have had less of a problem with bad caps than many.
