connectiong to a SMTP server

how can i connect to a smtp server and check my email account if i have e
mails and maybe looking at their subject, etc,..
couldnt fnd a place for smtp commands and cnonecting to a smtp server??

SMTP is used for *sending* mails - you need to work out whether you've
got a POP3 or IMAP server (or something else), and find the appropriate
commands for *that*. When you know what type of server you're looking
at, a google search for that name and "RFC" is likely to help.

As others have mentioned, you want to look at either the IMAP or POP3
protocol for connecting to your email server and reading the emails that
might be located in an account on that server.

In order to do that, you might want to look into using the Collaboration
Data Objects (CDO), which you can use to connect to various accounts and get
information about them.
