The connection is to Direcway Sat. using a proxy. It' works great on
every computer, just not with WIN XP. So, yes, the computer is obtaining an
IP on the "Home LAN

Still fiddling - but with no luck!!!

So it is obtaining an IP and you have confirmed this at a command prompt by
typing IPCONFIG and noting the IP?

Can you PING any web sites from the command prompt?

I assume you have a router allowing your machine to obtain an IP from it -
is the router limiting the number of IPs you can get?

If you have no DSL/Cable router - how many IPs does DirecWay give?

Can ping any given site, and there's no limit on the number of IP's. I've
even check the hosts file - renamed, done all that. I can access even
"highly secure" sites. It just ABSOLUTELY WON'T let me access hotmail.

TIA
