I have 2 LAN 1 is a workkgroup, the second one a domain,
they are in different locations. How can I access a
Server W2003 from the workgroup, does not find it, does
not see it. I check the ip info looks OK.
I can ping from the router to any workstation, I can also
see files inthe workstation; but I can not do these
things with the server.
Please help

Hi,

I understand that you want to access the shard folders on the W2K server
(in a domain) from a non-domain workstation. To do this, you can use the
UNC method to access the folders. Click 'Start'->'Run', input
'\\Server_IP_Address\' (without the quotation marks) and press Enter. An
authentication window could prompt. Input the domain account and then you
will be able to access the network sharing.

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jorge Fei

I tried that and does not work. I can not even ping from
outside the domain to the servers.
But I can ping and see the workstations from outside th
workstations.

Something I think is important is that these servers have
two NICs, one for the LAN and the other one for the
connection of the other LAN/Workgroup/Internet.
And I am trying to connect thru the Second Nic
10.0.100.130.
I am sending the IPconfig for info.

Please check if the file and printer sharing is binding to the Second NIC:
Right-click 'My network places' and choose 'Properties'. In the connections
window, click 'Advanced'->'Advanced Settings'. Select the second NIC which
is connecting with the workgroup network. Do you see 'File and printer
sharing for Microsoft Networks'?

In addition, please make sure there is no firewall enabled on this NIC.
(i.e, Internet connection firewall). If it is connecting with the Internet,
it's recommended to configure the W2k server as a VPN server. Connect two
network through VPN.

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

Have a nice day!
