connection window pop up

Every time I or someone else log in the internet connection window pops up, and keeps on doing so even when cancelled/closed. A message says "You or a programme on your computer has requested a connection to...." the URL changes each time.

I have checked internet connection preferences, changed from never connect to only when connection not present to always connect and back again. Makes no difference. Have deleted all cookies, deleted suspect programs. It won't go away.

Any help gratefully accepted.
