connection to server by shortcut

Some users of mine need to access a certain share on a server that is not
always available. Because they can't use a mapped dive now and are not
allowed to browse the network I created a shortcut for them to the server.
During testing I created an easy password for them. Since the server goes
into production Monday I changed the password to one that applies to our
policies. The problem is now they get an "Access Denied" or "Unavailable"
notice when they click on the shortcut. Since they checked the box to save
the password I'm not prompted and not able to change the password.

I tried mapping the drive when the server was available and supplied
different credentials. This works and also fixes the shortcut issue but when
I unmap the drive and Log Off and Logon the user, the "Access Denied" and
"Unavailable" are starting again.

Is there anyway I can change the password without recreating the user's
profiel? (I know deleting the profile is dratic but it simply has to work
Monday morning).

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried just deleting the link under
explorer 'tools' 'disconnect network drive'
Although there will be no drive associated with it, there
will still be a stored link.

Yes, but it that didn't help. After a reboot there wasn't even one created
anymore as the shortcut never completed the mapping.
