I have 2 computer connected to a NetGear RS-114 router. 1
of the the computers both using Windows 2000 Pro can
connect to the internet no problem. I have enabled the
ethernet card to automatically obtain the IP addresses.
What esle do I need to do to get the second computer to
connect to the internet. I can access the routers software
from the 2nd computer I just can't get on to the internet
with it. How do I fix that?

Do you have DHCP configured on the router? Sounds like you don't have DNS
info set up right on the second computer. Can you ping something on the
Internet by IP?

As far as I know the DHCP is configured. I cannot ping
anything on the internet but I can ping the router. I can
access the internet from 1 of the 2 computers so I figure
the problem is either in the router port I'm using or its
with the set or driver for the ethernet card in the
computer that can't access the net. I have tried changing
ports on the router but still have no access to the net.

On the computer that can connect to the Internet, open a command prompt and
type ipconfig /all. Note the DNS server address and the default gateway
address. Run ipconfig /all on the machine that cannot connect. If the DNS
and/or gateway addresses are different, set a compatible static IP address
on this machine and manually configure your DNS and gateway settings to
match those of the first machine.
