I am using xp professional and have a reoccuring problem
with the connection to the internet.
Almost every day or sometimes a few times a day I can't
connect to the internet. My PC NIC is connected to a
Linksys hub/router and then to a DSL modem.
When my internet connection stops working the problem
seems to be the connection from my NIC to the hub port.
I can't even communicate with my Linksys hub/router. I
use IE to try to open up the router admin/config window
and it does not work. What I do notice is when things
are not working the little flag in the top right corner
of the IE window does not wave at all.
I have tried the networking repair feature in xp and even
checked out all of the xp networking config and
everything seems fine and I can't make it work.
I have re-installed xp. I have had this problem before
the reinstall and after the reinstall. I have McAfee
virus scanning software and all of the latest xp updates
from Microsofts.
To get it working when it craps out I use the xp restore
feature to bring my PC back to an earlier date when it
was working. I use the latest restore point that had
everything working and create new restore point every
couple of days.
Suggestions??
thanks...Mark
