I succesfully set up connection sharing however one small
unexpected problem. The machines sharing the host
machines connection VIA a switch cannot load certain we
pages (google being one of them) and have trouble running
searches (on yahoo for example). Most sites they can
easily and rapidly connect to but certain ones seem to
not work at all now (though they did ALL with a router -
which i got rid of due to problems with certain online
games) Is this due to a configuration issue or something
else... i set it up exactly as listed in the connection
sharing setup help page.

The shared connection does work for 90% of all sites but
it never or rarely can load the others.

This is a common problem with sharing DSL connections that use PPP
Over Ethernet (PPPoE). Here are some possible fixes. Any one of them
should solve the problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 on the ICS host computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the client computers, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client computers, or use
DrTCP to make it:

http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the host
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
sites:
