Chris

Hi there,
I am in serious trouble with my eVC4.0 installation on my ATHLON XP running
WinXP SP2. Every time I start eVC4.0 and go over Tools->Configure Platform
Manager->PocketPC 2003 Emulator->Properties->Test
I obtain an error Message that cemgr.exe (Platform Manager!?) has caused an
error. I can't connect with the Pocket PC 2003 Emulator. Same thing when I
use to run a Hello World example...
Then the whole fuzz gets stuck and I have to kill eVC, PBEMUL and cemgr.exe
from the Process list.
so what is the issue!? Any suggestions? I'd be very happy if someone knew
anything!

regards
Chris

Sorry, I know the message I posted is not _exactly_ the scope of this group.
So If you mind, don't dispraise, simply ignore! (Otherwise answer ;-) )

Chris,

A few things to check, make sure you have a working network connection on
your machine or have installed the loopback adapter. Also ensure you have
the latest service pack for eVC++ 4.0 - SP3 can be downloaded here:-
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...3e-5b3d-419a-9610-2fe53815ae3b&displaylang=en

You may also want to look at the other newsgroups -
microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer or
microsoft.public.windowsce.embedded.vc for other possible solutions.

Hi Peter,
thank you for your quick response.
I am sorry to report I didn't manage to get this work. I have a network
interface card installed, even deactivated my firewall, but this problem
still persists.
I installed the Service Pack 4 for eVC4.0, which is a cumulative patch
containing also SP3.
I wonder If I shall install the loopback device, hoping it will not corrupt
my network adapter installation.

Hello there,

I have the solution to the Problem cemgr.exe causes and gets nuts!

eVC4.0 Service Pack 4 is NOT a cumulative patch concerning Platform
Manager!!!
The Platform Manager Application is still the old after having SP4
installed, so I downloaded
eVC4.0 SP2, where a dedicated platform manager update is available.
And - beyond my expectations: It now _does_ work!

So, everyone who thinks a cumulative patch from Microsoft is truly one,
be aware you could be mislead. Be aware it could you take hours of
unproductive work... (like i had to encounter)

Chris
