Hello. I recently upgraded our office from an NT server to
win2k.

I have a reoccuring problem with some users connecting to
networked disk resources on the system. We are a mixed
desktop shop. Mostly Win2k and a few (3) Xp desktops in a
12 desktop small office.

These failures occur irregularly but with troublesome
frequency. Usually, the problem is rectified by rebooting
the problematic desktop.

When this occurs, we have had the user go immediatley to
another unused desktop, sign on and the person has been
able to authenticate and gain full access to the disk
drives on the domain. The original problem still exists
until the machine is rebooted.

This has been a bear to diagnose. Do you have any
suggestions?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Here's my 2¢ If your using your windows 2000 server as a
DHCP server to issue IP addresses, maybe the lease time is
expireing and the IP addresses are not valid, or being
issued to another computer.

Thanks Andy....sounds very reasonable. I'll make an
adjustment to the lease times and see if that changes
things.
