connecting XPHome to existing home network help!

I want to connect my daughter's laptop to my existing Windows home network
that has an XP pro computer and a Win98 computer. I got the DSL Internet
connection to work on the laptop so I know the hub and cable connection is
good, but I can't see the local machines. I ran the MS networking wizard
to no avail. I'm using the same workgroup name as the other computers. Do
I have to download Netbeui from the MS website or something and connect that
way? I just want to share files and folders! What do I need to do?

For a modern LAN, Netbios over TCP/IP is a better solution for sharing
named resources. If you have Win XP and Win 9x already on the LAN,
you're probably using Netbeui, though. I'd go with whatever you're
using with the existing systems.

Remember to setup and use an account / password identical to one setup
on the Win XP computer, if you want to access files there.

You might Also want to check to see if her laptop has the Microsoft

Firewall active. I have had that block me from seeing my networked machines
but allow internet through.
