connecting XP to 2000

I just recently got an XP computer, which i'm trying to
connect to a network which the server's OS is 2000. I try
using the wizard to connect to the server but it doesn't
find the server or the other computers on the network.
Please help, thank you.
 
Is the Server running 2000 Server or 2000 Workstation?
Is there a Network Domain setup or is everything in a Workgroup environment?

These question are very important, as the configuration is very different.

Is there a Network Administrator or someone that takes care of the network
or is this a home setup?
