I want to connect my work laptop (which runs 2000
professional) and this software cannot be updated to XP,
to a PC i have bought for home use, which runs XP, and is
the perfect setup for home.

I have no idea about how to do this....any suggestions or
pointers? When I tried the XP network, the install
software it loaded to a-drive to install would not run in
2000

Thanks for any help or assistance

If there's a network administrator at work, ask that person for help.
He/she should know how your laptop is set up, whether it's on a
domain, and what (if anything) needs to be done to connect it to a
workgroup at home.

Otherwise, the default network settings in XP and 2000 should let the
computers network with each other. There's no need to run XP's
network setup wizard from the floppy.
