I have an inhospitable pc I believe. I can surf, connect, download...everything works, except when others try to connect to my pc. I never realized before that it might have something to do with my computer, but now I'm pretty sure it does. Can anyone explain to me what's wrong?

How do mean connect?
via the internet? via a lan?
Have you got a network installed?

We need more info

I have DSL on my pc, and it's all put on standard settings. Besides installing and registrating I haven't touched any of the network settings. Local computers can't connect to mine, they can't connect through my IP-address, even a simple file can't be transfered to another computer through f.e. MSN. When it comes to adjusting settings like firewalls, I wouldn't know where to begin. But i doubt it has to do something with that. Even if it's something in my settings that needs to be changed, like a simple check box that needs to be enabled, I wouldn't know where to look for it. I can tell however a message that shows when a transfering file can't be downloaded to another computer. It says that my internet connection is blocked and that I need to make contact with the provider or system manager or something. If there are more specific details you need to know, just mention it. Thanks.

It sounds like a firewall is blocking access to your PC both locally (ie
computers physically near to you) and via the net. Are you running your
dsl connection via a router or modem. Do you have a software firewall
running?
You need to open ports to your computer through the firewall or router
which means other computers can then access files on your PC via your IP
address.
