I have a situation where I need to connect a DOS 6.22
machine running a DOS application to a Win XP pro
machine. The idea is to run the dos application on the
Win XP work station while updating database files on the
DOS host machine. Is there a way to accomplish this task?

You can run DOS apps on Windows XP.

You can tweak the start up properties to enforce "DOS Compatibility" mode to
ensure XP executes the application properly.

Uh, you can run some DOS apps, but certainly not all: apps that directly
access IOspace are tricky to make work. You'll just have to try it.

Ooohh, that really depends on what networking software you have on the
DOS machine. It sounds like you want an terminal connection to the DOS
machine (hyperterminal will do the job nicely if the console connection
is available via the network). Just to help us understand, what were
you using for this?

that is true. The good thing is that if it does crash, the Windows team
will get the appcompat data back so they can address the problem in the
future via Windows Update.
