I am trying to connect my two home computer together with
a crossover cable. I tried to install the Network setup
wizard for XP on the 2000 machine, but it said that i
could only do that on basically all the other windows OS's.
(95,98,ME,and XP) So i'm wondering how i can either fix
that or get around it. Thank you.

Hi there --

What you need to do is to connect the two computers with the crossover
cable and join them both to the same workgroup.

I think by default both XP and W2K machines are in a workgroup named
WORKGROUP, but for a variety of reasons you still need to change this.

If one of the computers has an Internet connection, start by changing the
workgroup name on that machine to something other than WORKGROUP. Reboot
the computer and then go to the second computer and join it to the
workgroup you just created. You should then be able to share files between
the two computers, share a printer, and share the Internet connection if
you are using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) in Windows XP.

To create or join a workgroup, right click on My Computer and click
Properties. When the dialog box opens, go to the Computer Name tab and
change the workgroup name there.
