I am having difficulty activating my WIFI PCMICA card on my
laptop (running XP). After 2 hours on tech support with
Linksys, I have identified a missing "service" from my
system. i am missing the "wireless zero configuration"
service from my Services area under Administrative Tools in
my control panel. I have tried copying and replacing the
file from another XP laptop and installing all service pacs
from MS, with no avail. Does anyone know how to replace
this "service" to my XP system? If so, please advise!
Thank you!

Jim

Try:

Step 1 Right-click on My Computer. Select Manage.

Step 2 In the left pane, double-click on Services and
Applications. Select Services.

Step 3 In the right pane, scroll down and double-click on
Wireless Zero Configuration to open the properties
window.

Step 4 In the properties window, click on the General tab
at the top. Next to Startup Type, click the down arrow
and select automatic. Under Service Status, click Start.
Click OK to close the properties window.

Hope it works :-)

Open services and scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration Service,
Start the service and set it to automatic. If it does not show in the
list of Services:

run regedit and find

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WZCSVC

add a DWORD entry named "Start" and value "2"
