Connecting Vista to a Newtork

We have a small network in our office of XP computers. I am familiar with
the network connection wizard in XP but am lost as to how to start with
Vista. We are trying to connect the new Vista computer to the XP network.
Any suggestions on where to start?

I have exactly the same problem, which must be shared by many. I spent
literally days trying to solve the problem in February when I bought my new
HP notebook with Vista. HP helplines were unable to help, nor would
Microsoft. My Vista Notebook was able to access the internet through the XP
network, but it could not see any of the XP computers, nor access their
files, nor share their printers.
Eventually I managed to get the XP network to see the notebook's IP address
(you know: the 4 sets of 3 digits) and its files in the Public folder, but
not its name or its printer. And it was always a slow and unreliable
connection, only possible from the XP end (never from the Vista notebook).
I am now returning to try again to solve the problem.
