Hi!

Hopefully someone can help me. I have a laptop running windows XP. It has
USB ports, a 15 pin rectangular female port, and a round female port. I have
a video camera which has 6 pin female connection to the computer. As obvious,
I don't have such a port, so I bought an adapter cord to fit the 9 pin into
the usb port. However, none of the programs I have tried using have been able
to recognize the device. The computer has recognized the cord and installed
it successfully (with drivers provided by the manufacturer). Please help me,
Why isn't is working and is there anyway to get my camera hookup to my
computer without a 9 pin male or firewire (because the camera also has a DV
port, but no cord came with it)

Thanks-

Your notebook has no firewire port? You'll need to purchase a PCMCIA
firewire card for it, but check the manual first, I haven't come across a
notebook with no firewire ports in a long time.

Okay. Thank you!

In addition to what Cari said, my laptop has similar
connections to yours plus a 4 pin firewire input - this hole in
the side of the laptop doesn't LOOK like a "connector." One
common firewire cable is a 6 to 4. One last check on the edges
of your laptop, if nothing found then the PCMCIA card, which
will probably come with a cable, is the best answer.
