Connecting two PCs

I need to transfer some files from a Windows 98se PC machine to my laptop
which has Windows XP home edition installed. However, there is no
CD-writer, usb port or Network card installed on the PC.

Can I transfer files using a parallel port connection without installing
additional software ?

Sorry, no email support. You can use Direct Cable Connection - look it
up in XP's Help & Support. You'll need to purchase a special cable.
