Connecting two computers

I have one computer with Win XP Pro and the other with
Win XP Home. I want to connect both of them together
over a telephone line, 25 miles apart, and not connected
to the internet. New at this and need help. Tks

Hello!

You can set up a incoming connections on the XP Pro machine with the modem
and dial into the machine.

You need have internet connection here.

You can directly use the modems attached to each of your machines and
connect. For more info on stpes on how to set up the incomming connections,

I think that Manjari Bonam [MSFT] meant to say that you DON'T need to have
an Internet connection for a direct dial-up connection between the two
machines.

This works, but in considering applications for the connection, bear in mind
that it will be very slow--max 33.6k bits/second.

It might help if you described how you intend to use the connection. Given
that one machine is XP Home, it will be important to know what the precise
roles of each machine will be--since Remote Desktop hosting is available
only on XP Pro.
