I want to get files from one computer into another
computer. I have two laptops. Laptop 1 will not allow XP
to start, I have resorted to using MS DOS. Laptop 2 is
fine and has Windows XP working fine. I want to save my
files from Laptop 1 onto Laptop 2. Is there a way I can
do this?

I know that if I use cables to connect, there are
instructions on www.microsoft.com if both computers have
xp running, but what about if one has xp and the other
has to resort to MS DOS?

Thank you for your help!

I can't think of any easy way to connect to that laptop if all you've got
DOS. And how are you getting there anyway? A boot disk? And if it was
formatted with NTFS, you wouldn't be able to see the files anyway.

The easiest thing I can think of is taking the drive out of the dead laptop,
installing it (with the proper adapter) in a desktop that has a CD burner,
and copying whatever files you need to CDs. Then you can do whatever you
want with those files.

You should be able to use the Files and Folders Transfer Wizard in XP to do this easil
