Is there a way to connect to XP Home version from XP Pro? I can't seem to
connect the other way...XP Pro from XP Home.

I use UltraVNC over my home LAN to access/control my wife's XP Home machine from my XP Pro
machine...

http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/

If you use this over the public internet I recommend you use the included encryption plug-in...

http://home.comcast.net/~msrc4plugin/

....or run UltraVNC through a VPN or SSH tunnel... This is because the native VNC data stream is
*NOT* encrypted...

I was hoping to have it act as a terminal server and not just remote control
(taking over the machine). I'd like to do admin stuff in a terminal window
so the user at the desktop isn't affected. Any options there?

Thanks

Not that I know of...Unfortunately its not like running an remote X session like you can on a
LINUX/UNIX box...

Time to run a REAL operating system I guess. :-) Dump Windoze and get Linux.
You won't regret it.
