Connecting to Remote Desktop

Do I need some sort of static IP, or Virtual something-rather to setup
REMOTE DESKTOP?

I'm trying to get my WinXP Pro office machine and my WinXP Pro laptop to
talk to each other remotely while I"m around the world. What exactly do I
need?

Why isn't PCAnywhere out of business considering Windows is suppose to do
the same things?

So much depends on the network setup that your Office PC works within that
it is difficult to give a reply without that information. There might be
difficulties with routers, and port-forwards, but we can't say if we don't
know the context.
 
This link actually helped. I just had to type in the IP that the DSL was
assigning the computer. I did that by opening the Command Prompt (Start >
Run... > type cmd) and then I typed IPConfig /all and used the IP address at
the PPP adapter NOT the LAN IP address.

PS It's funny it seems MS tried to make it soooo simple that anyone can do
it... but I guess the static/dynamic IP thing got in the way so they had to
put it on WinXP Pro not in XP HOME. At least that's a thought, probably not
true.
