Hi

I don't know if this can be done but my new (ish) computer has developed a
monitor fault and it has gone back to suppliers for an examination.

My problem is that I want to access some files on the new computer's hard
drive but have no monitor currently.

I have a notebook here and was wondering if there is a way to somehow
connect the tower system to notebook to access these files. Both systems
are running XP Pro.

Thanx

Yes, there is a way, but to set it up you need to view things on the
worksation (setup the network, set permissions, start services, etc.).
I can't think of a way to do it without having a monitor connected.

Can you borrow someone's monitor temporarily?

Read on the "help" on the laptop how to setup a network, file sharing, etc.

Thanx for your reply.

That's what I feared. There are no permissions set up at all. Oh well.......

Hopefully, it MAY be back early next week

Maybe someone else will think of something.
