Hi,

I have a client with two retail sites. Each site will be running an Access
XP application on a pc with broadband connected. He would like to be able to
query records and transfer records between the two sites, e.g. stock out of
Site A into Site B.

The Access part itsself is not difficult to work out, but can Access connect
directly to tables & queries held in another Access db on another pc over
the internet? If not, can anyone tell me the best way to achieve this?

Many thanks,
Jim F.

You would have to set up a VPN between the PCs and even then a broadband
connection is simply not fast or stable enough to operate a file-share like
Access over.

If you used a VPN and remote control software like Terminal Server then it
is quite possible to get satisfactory results as then only keystrokes, mouse
actions, and screen updates travel over the wire. All of the actual
application activity stays on one LAN.
