connecting desktop to laptop?

can a desktop tower be hooked to a laptop?
the purpose for that is to transfer files because the desktop is giving problems with discs or external hard drives.
the desktop is a emachines and the laptop is a hpdv6000

Hi, first off welcome to PCR forums...The answer to your question is yes you can..Have a look HERE. This is basically what you want..I just used this one as guide as there are a million and one of them on the market at all kinds of prices...Pc world do a Belkin one for about £11.99..Just a matter of shopping..

Yes they can, you can network them so you can copy files and data across to the other computer via Ethernet Cable see here. That will also allow you to have internet from a Wireless router to one of the computers if you have one. But it will be fine for networking both computers. :thumb:
