Connecting 2 USB cables together?

Other than using a usb hub, are there any adapters that would allow 2 usb
cables to connect together so I can extend their length?

Probably radio shack,however when doing that the two
cables if in 6ft configuration,or so,you exceed the
ability for the device to communicate with the pc,in
most cases(hence the usb hub).Belkin sells the hubs for
about 15.00
