Connecting 2 computers using an ethernet cable

G

Guest

I have a desktop and a laptop, both with XP, for some reason I cannot set up
a network or get the computers to talk to eachother at all. All I want to do
is transfer files. I have an ethernet cable as told to buy in PC WORLD. I
run the network set up wizard on both computers, still nothing.

Any ideas?

Did you get a Cross-Over Ethernet cable? A straight-thru aka Patch cable won't
work here.
