A FireWire network connection works the same as an Ethernet network
connection between two computers, only it transfers data much faster.
Windows XP has built-in drivers for FireWire networking.

Windows XP Pro uses "peer-to-peer" networking, where all computers are
equal, so I'm not sure what you mean by "using the other one as a host
computer".

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers to set up file and
printer sharing. If the Wizard asks which connection to use for the
local area network, tell it to use the FireWire connection, and tell
it not to use any Ethernet connection.

To share one computer's Internet connection with the other computer,
set up Internet Connection Sharing, as shown here:

Hello

I have three computers connected to each other using 1394. All the connections and file transfer are working great. Now my problem is when I connect a external Harddrive using firewire, the HD shows up on the last PC in the chain. What I mean is if I connect the HD to PC1, the new device pops up in PC3. In order to read the HD device in PC1, I have to disconnect PC1's firewire network connection.
Also, another question. On this same firewire network, if I connect a DV camcorder, it gets detected on each computer. Can I stop this and configure xp so that the dv device gets discovered only on one pc whichever i connect to
Thanks in advance
Pete
