I have an Epson Stylus Color 600 printer. It connects thru the LPT1 port.
I have used it with my Gateway with W98.

I now have a Dell with XP. I have been able to install this Epson to the
Dell.

Now, is there a way to connect this to both of my computer systems?? What
would I need? (Is there some kind of A/B switch type thingy)

I have nearly the same situation. I have a (relatively)
new Gatewat, a Compaq and a laptop Compaq. The desktop
is Gatewat is not in service now, but I do have the
printer working for both the XP (which has the printer
attached (parallel port) and the laptop. I have a
Netgear router (for Internet) which connects to a DSL
modem (WAN side) and has 4 ethernet ports on th LAN side.
The printer is available from either the Gateway or the
laptop (and to the Compaq desktop (if I get it working).
I got help setting up the router. If you try this, you
will too, I think. You just have to get your computers to
talk to each other. It could be by ethernrt (a 2
computer LAN. Hope this might be helpful.

Easiest answer(s) to your problem:
1) Spend some money on a print server and hook it to the router to share it with
all computers or
2) Connect printer to one computer and share it. You'll be required to leave the
computer running for printing availability at all times. Install the printer as
a shared printer on the other machine, make sure you point to the machine that
hosts the shared printer. XP has a habit of finding it for you and installing it
automatically (though this isn't always consistent).
