I just got the digital doc 5 and the fan connectors are i think a 3 pin
and all of my fans have the big 4 pin style connecter what adapter do i
need to buy. I have looked buy can not find one i am sure will works.
Thanks in advance!
Some info here.

The Digital Doc 5 has three pin fan headers. Such a fan header
consists of +12V, GND, and RPM signal.
If your fan has only this connector, there is no RPM signal, and
there is no point in connecting this fan to the Digital Doc. If
the fan had an RPM signal, it would be made available on a separate
small three pin connector (with either one or two wires).

If your fan has this kind of connector (less common, but is used for
the CPU fan), then you'd need an adapter for that. And an adapter
for this, is not a stock item. You'd have to build one. (At
least, I haven't seen an adapter for this, for sale.) My electronics
store has male and female three pin connectors, but doesn't have
them for the small four pin used on CPU fans.

If you're using the Digital Doc 5, you should really invest in
a fan with a three pin connector. And a fan that runs at a fast
enough RPMs, so it registers properly. This is an example of a
fan with a three pin connector. Make sure the third wire sends
an "RPM" or "tachometer" signal, and is not the "locked rotor"
status signal. Some non-computer type sources of fans, will sell
you a fan with a "locked rotor" signal, which would not work
with the Digital Doc 5.

Note that, you cannot disconnect the CPU fan from the motherboard
CPU fan header, and connect it to the Digital Doc. The motherboard
BIOS will become upset, if it does not see an RPM signal coming from
the CPU fan. For that to work, you need a splitter, and one connector
goes to the motherboard, the other to the Digital Doc. And even this
cable is not right for the job. The cable would look like this,
but would have two female and one male connector. The male connector
goes to the fan, one female goes to the CPU header, one female goes
to the Digital Doc 5. (Means building another custom cable, using
parts from your electronics store. )

In summary:
If you own a Digital Doc 5, you better know something about electronics
