connected to the internet but can not browse

hi all!

sometimes when i try to connect to the internet i see the icon that says i'm
connectedto the internet but i can not browse nor read my e-mails...browsers
says can not find server or no internet connection...
did network diagnostics, results: network adapter failed;
WAN Miniport failed;WINSPrimary server failed, but my modem is ok... it's
been happening more and more often lately...it always happens when i first
try to connect....my computer is brand new, just bought it last aug. 1,
using genuineWINXPHOMESP2, NORTON AntiVirus,up to date with regards to all
things that should be updated, 256MB RAM, 80GB HD,P4 2.6GHZ DUAL CORE...

what could be wrong and how do i fix this?

Give this a shot ... go to Start > Run > type in

cmd
Click OK

At the Command Prompt, type in

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter
Now type in

exit
Press Enter
Restart the system

I'd bet that Norton Antivirus is the culprit. If not, have you scanned
the system for malware ( spy|adware, trojans, worms, etc. ) lately ?

hi! thanks for the advice, i did it already and so far i was able to connect
without problems....

my problem now is my task bar is missing....
