My wireless has not been working properly although the wlan is on and is
connected to the network at 100% and the signal is "excellent" I cannot
access any of my internet application. It keeps telling me I am not
connected. Are there several reasons why this could be? Could it just
be that my landlord has not paid their cable/internet bill seeing as
its the first of the month? Just wondering if its a problem I can fix,
thanks.

Does your wireless secured and you assigned unique SSID for it, like
Mstephe2!.
What your Firewall arrangements, did you allow or assigned the Connection to
access the Internet, if your Phone is working I doubt it is a Bill issue.
Try the steps below , if it did help then great, if it didn't please write
back with more info about the set up and the hardware involved, software,
Anti-virus and firewall, did you tried the Ethernet cable to the Modem/Router
before the Wireless?.
Try this:
= Click Start >> Control panel >> Network and Internet Connections >> Double
click Network connections, then right your LAN Icon and select Properties.
On the LAN properties under General make sure the Internet Protocol TCP/IP
is selected and click Properties.
There make sure the Machine Get assigned Automatically IP address and Renter
the Encryption Key and the Network SSID then click
[OK].

= Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced.
Click on Connections tab and make sure the Connection is listed there then
click on LAN settings button and uncheck Automatically detect settings.
Click [OK] and close Hit F5 and open a run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]

Download the winsock fix from here:

Reboot your machine.
Is this connection Wired or wireless?.

The messages from Windows that a wireless network is "connected" or has
"excellent" signal strength are somewhat misleading. They don't
necessarily mean that you have a working connection. One cause of not
being connected despited such messages is a failure to satisfy all of
the security constraints imposed by the wireless router.

Or, as you've guessed, you may in fact be successfully connected to the
router but the router is not connected successfully to the Internet.

I'm assuming from your post that you do NOT have access to the wireless
router (you pick up a wireless signal from your landlord's wireless
router). In this case, the only thing you really can do is call your
landlord and ask if he/she is having any problems connecting to the
Internet or if he/she has changed any security settings on the router.

If your landlord says that everything is fine and no security changes
have been made, then what changed in your computer since the time your
Internet access last worked?
