Connect XP to Win2000

Hi, I have used a crossover wire to connect my home XP to a win2000
laptop.
The IP's are 192.168.50.1 , and 192.168.50.2
the subnet masks are: 255.255.255.0 , and 255.255.255.0
There is no DNS

I have no addition FW on the XP. I have no filteging on the
connection.

In the win2000 machine I have a client of SecureRemote that I have
killed.

When I pinged each other I get
Pinging 192.168.50.2 with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.

Note that in the win2000 in "Microsoft Windows Network" I can see the
XP machines name, therefore the I guess the crossover wire is fine.


Any idea how I can ping the machines??????

If you have Netbios installed also, both machines can see each other using
the Netbios-protocol. In that case, reinstall TCP/IP. Configuration looks
fine.
