Connect Windows XP to Mac OS 9.1

I am trying to connect my notebook, runniung XP home, to
an iMac, runnunig Mac OS 9.1. How do I have to do that? I
have connected them with a crossed ethernet cable, but
neither of the computers can see each other. (The Mac
should appear under "View workgroup computers", right?)
Does anyone know what I have to do? Thanks in advance.

Im pretty sure you need to buy third party software like
DAVE (www.thursby.com) to network OS9 with windows,
MacOSX has pc networking built in though

or you could try PC Maclan on your PC. Works very well
from my experiences with it, and its as easy as 1,2,3 to
setup.
