connect windows 98 to windowsXP home

Bought a new laptop with windows Xp and am trying to
connect to my old desktop running windows 98 to down,load
personal files. Canat get laptop to recognize the desktop
with windows Xp wizard. Can any one help me out?

Either install TCP/IP on your Windows 98 machine and enable File and
Print Sharing, or install NetBEUI on the XP machine.
