Connect lost to File shares

Recently, I have had several users complain that they can't access their file
shares. I haven't been able narrow it down to one particular cause, but the
events I'm hearing about seem similar in nature.

One user, from inside Word, attempts to open a file and when they click to
expand the file share, a message pops up in the bottom right corner notifying
them that they do have access to the drive.

Another user gets an error message stating that the "logon credentials have
expired" and to contact the system administrator for further assistance.

Another user gets a message in the bottom right corner that states that the
"logon credentials have expired. please lock the computer and logon to
correct the problem".

The only thing I can think of at this point is the possibility that the
password expiration is causing problems with the systems. The users have a
90-day limit on passwords and several (to many) users have not heeded my
advice to LOGOFF at night so when they login they would see the reminder
message when they hit 14 days until password expiration. The other issue is
that I have found several users procrastinating and the password expires and
I have to reset it in AD.

Could these password expirations be the cause of my current issues, or do
you think it might be another problem on the network.

Any assistance and guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Richard

Aske the users to log off and change their AD passwords. Ask them then
to test the network shares and see if the message shows p again...
Simple method of elimination!!!
