What is the model number of this "Acer lappy" ? Acer
makes a lot of lappy's, and it is hard to track them
down.
How about, give us a web link on the Acer site, to your
laptop and its specifications.

In general, laptops aren't that easy to upgrade graphically.
The cheap laptops, have graphics affixed to the motherboard.
At the current time, I'm not aware of any ExpressCard
graphics cards. There are a few PCCard (PCMCIA) ones.
There are also USB graphics devices, but they'd probably have
the wrong connector and aren't really meant for TVs.
If you had one of the larger gaming laptops, some of those
use MXM cards internally. But that probably isn't the
answer either.
Also, eventually we'll be asking a stupid question, like
what make and model of TV are you trying to connect to.
There are a number of video standards, and some give
better results than others.
If the laptop had a VGA or DVI connector, and the TV had
a VGA, DVI or HDMI connector, those might be some of the
better quality connections to an LCD TV. But we don't even
know right now, what kind of TV is involved. If it is an
old CRT TV, with composite (yellow RCA jack) input, it
might not even be worth the trouble. (My TV for example,
looks hideous when driven by the computer. The colors are
all wrong.)
