Hi,

I have come to the point where I need to configure DNS
and I am totaly lost here. I am at the "new zone wizard"
(forward zone) screen. and I need to name it. It gives me
an example " example.microsoft.com", however, I have a
non routable inner network and microsoft.com would be
registered name with ISP so I can't name it that way.
Please tell me how the naming for forward and reverse
zones work or probably how would my hierarchy look like
with the non routable network. Should I name it
forwardzone.serverName.microsoft.com or I am totaly wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

you can try using a name that nobody use...
and the suffix can be other e.g. local

e.g. abc.local

hopefully this helps

you could name it mydomain.com .... or whatever you want to.

homenetwork.bob

anything.albert

domain.local

satanlives.int

anything at all.

if its non-routable, it doesnt matter. just dont use a name that exists on
the internet.. that will mess you up.
