Hello,

I recently formatted my hard disk drive. Up until I did
this , my computer was able to connect to VPNs. Now,
whenever I setup one, my IP address is changed so that I
cannot connect to my home network. I have tried to
manually change my IP address, subnet mask and default
gateway to what it should be to connect to the network, but
the LAN still doesn't work. Can anybody help me, please.

I am using Internet Connection Sharing on Win XP machine
with all machines on the network also using WIN XP.

Cheers

KT

What happens is that you get another IP address and the default
gateway for your computer has switched to the VPN connection.

Right click on your VPN connection, select Properties, click on the
Networking Tab then select Internet Protocol, click on the Properties
button, then the Advanced Tab. On the resulting page, unselect the
box that states "Use the default gateway on the remote network".

Beware that there are security implications when you do this and you
should check with the people you are connecting to for confirmation
that this is acceptable. See

for more information.
