Greetings To The Gurus,

New to XP Pro. I have three accounts set up on my machine: Mine (Full
administrative access), my wifes (same- full admin) and Kids (limited).

How do I configure the kids account to show certain programs (games) on
their desktop? As it sits right now, there is only one game (out of the
7 installed) available on their desktop, but I'll be darned if I can
find how/where to give their account access to these games.

I apologize for what I'm willing to bet is a quite simple answer, but I
cannot find where to give them access.

I do have the file properties, etc to display as Win 98 as opposed to XP
(if that makes a difference).

Thank you very much for your info and assistance.

Much Respect,

Genghis

Most applications weren't designed for this type of multi-user environment.
Such applications need to be installed in each specific user's account to
whom you wish to grant access.

First, be sure the account to which you wish to grant access is set to
administrator and not limited. Install the applications to the same folder
in which it was originally installed. This will look the same as one
install on your hard drive but create the pointers necessary for this user
to have access to the application.

Once the installation is complete, you can return the account to its limited
status if that is what you want and the user should still have access.

We could make this easy.
Open Windows Explorer from your Admin account
Under Documents and Settings you will see a folder corresponding to each
user on the computer.
In each folder there is a "Start Menu" folder and a "Dsektop" folder
Go to the folder for the username where the programs are installed.
You will notice the folder structure resembles your Start Menu.
From there you can drag the Proram Shortcuts to the "Desktop" folder's for
each user you want to have that shortcut on their desktop.
When you click to drag be sure to use RIGHT CLICK and when you release the
button in the folder you are aiming for click Copy on the menu that pops up.
You can manipulate the folders however you want, most programs will run just
fine using this proceedure.

Mike, Rick (love the nickname) and Wojo,

Thank you very much to each of you for the quick reply and excellent info.

Between all three of your responses, I now have a better understanding of
how this works and what I need to do.

I definitely appreciate all of you taking the time to reply.
