I want to do an automatic re-boot of a couple of computers that are
accessible to the public at large. I have heard that this possible to do
using the GPEDIT command, but I have no details beyond that. Can anyone
explain which services i need to modify or edit to accomplish this?
TIA, Eric

This is not possible through a GPO. You have the ability to lock the
machine down, but not reboot it using the GPO. Since a GPO is a
persisent policy on the computer about the only thing you can do is
attach a script to the GPO that is installed on the machine when it
reboots or if you force it using Gpupdate or Secedit (depending on
which OS your on). You can use a Resource Kit tool for the reboot and
set the reboot in the script using the AT command or using the
Microsoft Scheduler.

Thank you for the information. I ended up using the task scheduler to
re-boot the machine, and I configured the auto logon using power tools for
xp. Now, I am trying to figure out how to "freeze" the IE homepage and
favorites, and to clear the history nightly. I would imagine that clearing
the history page in IE may be another thing that I could use the task
scheduler for. If you have any thoughts on these subjects please let me
know! TIA
